Mayor Sharkey introduced the Shrewsbury Borough Hometown Heroes Banner program which Borough Council approved at the February, 2024 meeting. He asked Council to consider starting this program as a way to recognize our military veterans and those currently serving. There is a selection committee comprised of a majority of veterans and represented by Borough Council, the Shrewsbury Centennial Lions Club and the Southern York County Rotary Club. The program is open to currently serving and honorably discharged veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force who are from or live in Shrewsbury Borough. The program will continue and will be offered to first responders, EMS, fire fighters and police officers.
